Child’s-eye view of storm damage

We had a really strong wind storm in my neighborhood. The next morning we could see there were trees and branches down and shingles strewn about. My son came inside excitedly telling us about some of the things he was seeing.

So, I gave him my Canon G9 and told him to take some photographs.

Delsin's View, Storm Damage

As I was looking at the photos, I realized these are more than just photos of the storm damage. They are a self-portrait, of a kind. They are what he sees and what he sees as important. It’s a glimpse into his world. The shingle at his feet, his friends foot in the frame, the cat trotting across the yard. These are what he sees.

For that reason, these photos are more powerful than I could have imagined.
