Lego Cuusoo video on YouTube isn’t so kid friendly

The Lego Cuusoo site is pretty cool. And they have a cute video to explain the purpose of the site.

But when the video is complete, YouTube puts up some weird and questionable videos to watch next.

  1. That’s definitely one of the chief problems I have with YouTube when it comes to my kids….even if any one individual video that they are looking for on the site is halfway decent, once it’s over they are presented with a range of often highly questionable (at best) options as to what to view next. I have had to ban YouTube — and engage passcode-protected parental control functionality on all my Macs & iOS devices to enforce this policy since my son is already a deviously savvy little bugger at the age of 6 — except when my wife or I are are immediately at hand to screen each link they click on after one too many experiences where we found them watching some truly bizarre stuff mere seconds after clicking through from a relatively benign starting point.

    Hi Eric,

Thanks for catching this. I’m surprised you were able to see the recommended videos on the embedded video page, because we turned this off in the embed settings several weeks ago. We looked at it again, and do not see the recommended videos displayed when we look at it from the embedded player on LEGO CUUSOO. When did you take this screenshot, and are the embedded videos currently visible for you? We have tested from multiple machines, OSes and, browsers in different countries and do not see it embedded. If it is displaying for some people, it is a concern for us, so thanks for pointing this out.

When you view the video on YouTube’s page, the recommended videos do display. We’re investigating if there is any way to turn this off or limit what types of content is shown.
