Hobbyist vs. Photographer, the difference is money
What is the only difference between a GWC (Guy With Camera, Girl With Camera) and a professional photographer?
The ability to make money.
If you can afford to buy the most expensive gear, but you cannot recoup your costs through your photography, you’re either a hobbyist (GWC) or running a failing photography business.
If you can earn a living from the cheapest, oldest, rattiest, ghetto gear then you’re a professional.
In order to make money from photography, you need to know the cost of your photos. Photopreneur.com has an excellent article on the cost of producing photos.
If you are thinking about making the switch, you should read that article.
