I take photographs from time to time. Not very often, but when I do, I really try to make something awesome.

Recently I went to Andrew Houser’s small strobe lighting workshop. My friend Mike was my model and I think I got some awesome shots.

I normally use this Cactus V2 radio trigger with Flash Zebra hot shoe arrangement. But… this time, my cactus strobe trigger – the one that goes on the camera itself – wasn’t firing the receivers. Even when they were side by side and all the channels were checked. I think the battery went dead.

Thankfully I had a Canon ST-E2 as backup. That meant I could only use my Canon flashes, though. No big deal. The lighting setups only used two strobes anyway.

So, I am upgrading my Cactus triggers to Cactus V5′s because they are transceivers and because they take AAA batteries. Those are easier to come by than CR2′s and watch batteries.
