Shooting after a rain storm – the Cascade Falls Trail, Saco, Maine
With the warmer weather, I have been itching to get outside and take some photos. Things are getting greener and the animals are active; it’s all very exciting for the Nature Photographer. But, this past weekend was really rainy here in Southern Maine.
Even so, I managed to get out for a while to hike the Cascade Falls Trail with my family and our neighbors children. Because of the rain I was able to get some good shots of the waterfall. The recent rain really brought this little cascade to life. The moisture and overcast skies helped saturate the colors of the moss and plants, too.
Rare Pink Lady’s Slippers were out. There was a big patch of them in an area about 20 feet in diameter on the side of a hill near the trail. My wife also found some Jack in the Pulpits, but I didn’t get any good shots of them.
The kids found a little bullfrog sitting on a log. The bullfrog seemed to think he was completely invisible. He didn’t move despite the frantic and wild efforts of three kids trying their best to get him to hop.
