Couch to 5k, week 4; not so bad.

I’ve been using C25k app on my iPhone to interval train for a 5k in November. This week is my 5th week, and I used the Week 4 intervals.

I’ve been using C25k app on my iPhone to interval train for a 5k in November. This week is my 5th week, and I used the Week 4 intervals. I skipped Day 2 for scheduling reasons. I noticed that my legs were a lot tighter before running today, which tells me that my body likes working out.

I tried a different location to run today. I ran around the athletic fields at one of the schools nearby. The field is flat but exposed to the sun. I think I like running on the trails in the woods more.

Couch To 5k, week 1 done.

I finished my first week of Couch To 5k feeling great on my 40th birthday.

I finished my first week of Couch To 5k feeling great.

I’ve never been a runner and my adult life has been spent mostly at a computer desk. The idea of running is really intimidating. But I like to hike and I used to go mountain biking whenever I got the chance.

I’ve tried running a few times before. It’s a lot of work. I got sore legs. My heart was going to explode. I gave up. I felt guilty.

I’ve got the fitness level of a desk worker, and that is going to change

I hiked Mount Monadnock in Southwestern New Hampshire this past weekend. The mountain is over 3,100 feet high, and you actually climb over 1,800 feet of that in about 2 miles.

About 30 minutes into it, I seriously considered quitting.
